Gatica is a passionate dancer, choreographer, and educator who has dedicated her life to the art of dance. Her journey began at the age of four at the prestigious Norwegian Opera and Ballet, where she trained in classical ballet for ten years. While ballet gave her discipline and grace, it was jazz and street styles that sparked her love for expressive movement. At fifteen, she discovered salsa—and after just one class, she was hooked. That moment sparked a lifelong devotion to Latin dances. In 2007, Gatica moved to Los Angeles to immerse herself in the heart of the dance industry. There, she made the bold decision to fully dedicate herself to Latin dance. Five years later, in 2012, she found herself captivated by the sensual rhythm and emotional depth of Bachata. Since then, she has worked tirelessly to develop her own signature style—marked by elegance, musicality, and precision. Gatica has been teaching since 2002 and founded her own school, Dance it – by Gatica, in Oslo in 2014. The school quickly became a go-to destination for Latin dance enthusiasts in Norway. She has choreographed for theaters, music videos, TV, fashion shows, and directed numerous performance teams with both technical rigor and creative vision. Her international dance journey began in 2010—initially with Salsa, and later, primarily with Bachata. She has performed and taught at festivals across the world, building a reputation for artistry and depth. Gatica is a powerful advocate for empowering women in dance and fostering a more inclusive scene. For her, dance is not just about steps—it's about energy, story, and emotion shared through partner work. In 2020, Gatica met her partner Melvin, and together they co-created Bachata Influence—a style that has quickly made waves worldwide. With shared vision and passion, they’ve built an approach that blends technique, connection, and creativity. As mentors to the Bachata Influence Team, they train and certify dancers around the globe, igniting a movement that brings people together through the power of Bachata. Feel it. Breathe it. Dance it.
